Full-time Head Coach

We have a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated sports person, after full time employment in a rewarding field. This role is for anyone who has a keen interest in delivering sport within primary education settings. It may also lead to contributing extra sporting opportunities to children across the Cheshire East area.

A successful candidate will be responsible for assisting and delivering their own high quality PE lessons, delivering CPD and PPA cover in line with the national curriculum for primary schools. Extra roles and responsibilities would include Lunch time clubs, After School clubs and other exciting opportunities.

Main roles and responsibilities: 

  • Planning, organising and delivering high quality sessions across all aspects that we offer.
  • Working successfully as part of a team to overcome problems.
  • Responsible for administrative duties that comes with the job.

Requirements: 

  • A genuine interest in delivering a range sports
  • A passion for developing and progressing young learners
  • An ability to work alone or with others
  • Experience delivering in school settings

Desirables:

  • A valid DBS. (DBS for sports coaching can be done following employment)
  • First aid and safeguard qualified
  • Driving license or an ability to travel.

 

Swim Teachers

We are seeking passionate and qualified Swim Teachers to join our team at Sports Coaching Group. The role will take place in primary schools across Cheshire, Staffordshire and Shropshire with overtime opportunities in the evenings and at weekends. The successful candidate will be delivering swim stages 1 to 4, in-line with swim England’s learn to swim scheme.

The hours are generally between 9am-3pm with some exceptions which would require a 4pm finish.

Main Role and  Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and conduct structured swimming lessons for students of varying ages and skill levels. Based around our Swimming stages.
  • Teach fundamental swimming techniques, water safety skills, and stroke development in a progressive and age-appropriate manner.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and skill development.
  • Provide individualised instruction and support to students, addressing their unique learning needs and challenges.
  • Conduct assessments to track student progress.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students during swimming lessons, adhering to established safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with students and parents providing updates on students’ progress and addressing any concerns.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in swimming instruction, incorporating innovative teaching methods into lessons.

Requirements:

  • Valid level 2 swim teacher certification.
  • Safeguarding and First Aid certifications.
  • Strong swimming skills and proficiency in various swim strokes and techniques.
  • Previous experience teaching swimming lessons to children essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate young learners.
  • Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for teaching swimming and water safety.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Punctual, reliable, and a strong sense of responsibility.

 

Childcare Specialist 

We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing Childcare Provider to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and educational environment for children. This role requires a passion for working with young children and the ability to foster their development through play and structured activities. Split shift, Monday – Friday 7.30-8.30 and 3-6.

Main Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Supervise and ensure the safety of children at all times.
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that promote physical, emotional, and social development.
  • Provide care for children’s basic needs, including meals, hygiene, and rest periods.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child’s progress and any concerns.
  • Maintain a clean and organised environment that is conducive to learning and play.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and provide guidance in resolving conflicts among children.
  • Keep accurate records of children’s activities, behaviour, and any incidents that may occur.

Requirements: 

  • Previous experience in childcare or a related field is preferred but not essential.
  • A qualification in Early Childhood Education or Child Development would be advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with children and parents alike.
  • Patience, creativity, and adaptability in handling various situations that may arise during childcare.
  • A genuine passion for nurturing children’s growth and development.

Meet Sports Coaching Group's Chris Jones who started as an apprentice coach and has climbed the career ladder to become Head of Coaching

Chris Jones has become a shining example of dedication and development at Sports Coaching Group, rising through the ranks from apprentice to Head of Coaching (Extra-Curricular). 

Starting his journey in 2015 as a Level 2 Coaching Apprentice, Chris quickly demonstrated exceptional skills, a passion for coaching, and a commitment to nurturing young talent.

His hands-on approach and ability to inspire confidence in both students and colleagues saw him progress steadily within the organisation. 

Chris’s innovative ideas and leadership qualities played a pivotal role in shaping the extracurricular coaching programme, enhancing its quality and reach.

Now leading the team, Chris oversees a wide range of activities, ensuring they meet high standards and cater to diverse needs.
