Sports Coaching Group helps to support families through the #HAF programme.

Sports Coaching Group provides free holiday clubs and free food for some families through the HAF programme, which stands for Holiday Activity and Food.

We are proud to be working with Cheshire East, Cheshire West, Staffordshire County Council and Department for Education to provide holiday clubs free of charge.

Our HAF clubs give children aged 5–17 the opportunity to enjoy fun, active and engaging activities during the school holidays, while also providing a nutritious meal.

Who is eligible for HAF?

The HAF programme is primarily available to children and young people who receive benefits-related Free School Meals. Eligibility can vary between local authorities, so please check the guidance for your area.

Last year, Sports Coaching Group supported more than 4,000 children and families were supported through safe, engaging holiday provision.

Is there something for teenagers?

HAF isn’t just for younger children. Here at Sports Coaching Group, we offer a range of Teen HAF opportunities designed specifically for young people aged 11–17, including activity sessions, youth programmes, courses and work experience opportunities.

Our YouthZone at SportsZone in Sandbach gives teenagers the opportunity to enjoy activities such as the golf simulator, pool, darts and Sky Sports, alongside a free lunch.

We also provide Teen HAF opportunities at Biddulph Youth and Community Zone, which offers access to a gym, sports hall, gaming facilities and dance studio.

Finally, we offer the Teen #HAF coaching experience where youngsters get the chance to work alongside Sports Coaching Group coaches to gain invaluable insights into the work and gain great experience.

What to Bring

Children should arrive prepared for a fun, active day of indoor and outdoor activities. Please ensure your child brings:

👟 Suitable clothing and trainers – children will be active throughout the day, so comfortable clothing and closed-toe trainers are essential.

💧 A refillable water bottle – this should be clearly labelled with your child’s name.

🍎 Snacks and a packed lunch – please provide enough food for the day.

🧥 Weather-appropriate clothing – activities may take place indoors and outdoors, so please check the weather and pack accordingly.

🏷️ Named clothing and belongings – please label all items of clothing and personal belongings with your child’s name.

What to Leave at Home

Children do not need to bring toys, games or other items from home. We have plenty of activities and equipment available throughout the day.

We also recommend that electronic devices are left at home. If your child needs to bring a mobile phone to camp, it must be handed to a coach on arrival and will be stored safely in line with our safeguarding policy. Phones will be returned at the end of the day.

Nut-Free Camp

🚫🥜 We are a nut-free camp. Please do not send your child with any food containing nuts or products that may contain nuts.
